Open Letter to All Our Supporters:
A Message from Richard Bilello, Cats Exclusive, Inc. Board Member and Treasurer
It has come to my attention that rumors may be circulating that Cats Exclusive, Inc. has a warehouse or similar facility which is used to house cats and/or kittens for future adoption purposes. I want to make it absolutely clear that Cats Exclusive, Inc. does not and has not, now or at any time in the past, lease, rent or own such a facility.
As stated in literature and on the website, we maintain a maximum number of 60 total cats and kittens at our one and only facility. Many of you have visited this location which is adjacent to our Medical Center located at 6350 West Atlantic Blvd. in Margate, Fl. The adoption facility is inspected monthly by Margate Animal Control and is open to the general public every day except Sunday and Monday. Many pictures from the adoption center are posted on our website, and videos from the Center are also available on the internet. A veterinarian is on duty at the Center five days a week and one is on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, as needed for the cats under our care until they are adopted.
In addition to the Adoption Center mentioned, Cats Exclusive has a limited number of private foster homes. These are the homes of individuals who, after inspection and approval, are allowed to volunteer care for kittens not yet old enough to be spayed or neutered. Also in their care may be kittens requiring treatment before they are fit to be resident in a group adoption center. Each home has no more than three litters of kittens at any one time and usually only one litter at a time until they have proved competent to successfully handle up to a maximum of three litters. These kittens and/or an occasional cat remain under the supervision of our Adoption Director and our Doctor in charge at our Clinic. Kittens are usually examined at our clinic every three weeks until they are ready to enter our adoption facility where they remain until adopted.
We have found that the best way to police the proper care of cats in our facility is to be very transparent and visible to the public as well as to the governing agencies charged with the proper care of animals. We have, and will continue to conduct ourselves in this manner. I hope this puts to rest anyone's concerns about how Cats Exclusive, Inc. conducts itself. If you have any further questions or concerns, you may contact me directly at Richard@catsexclusive.org.
Thank you for your continued and enduring support over the years which helps us to continue the much needed work we do every day in maintaining our no-kill adoption facility for homeless cats and kittens. We invite you to visit our website at www.catsexclusive.org as well as the AdoptionCenter frequently to see what events we have planned, many which fuel the good work of Cats Exclusive. We sincerely hope you find one that interests you, and become an active member of the Cats Exclusive family.
